During the autumn 2008 Bioservo carried out a study in collaboration with the Swedish employment agency with the aim to evaluate to what extent the SEM™Glove can make working life more easy for people suffering from a weak grip. One of the missions of the Swedish employment agency is to perform assessments and adjustments of work environments for people with reduced work capacity. Weak grip is a common cause of reduced work capacity and therefore the SEM™Glove is interesting for the employment agency.
Three persons with reduced work capacity due to weak grip participated in the study and used the SEM™Glove during everyday work for four weeks each. The results indicate that SEM™Glove can increase the work capacity for a person with a weak grip. Two of the participants suffering from the diagnosis psoriasis arthritis both experienced that they got a stronger grip and that the pain in their hand was relieved. Due to this they also experienced that the perception of touch increased in their hands. They express that SEM™Glove has increased their work capacity and that they would like to use SEM™Glove in their work in the future.
