SEM™Glove – What is it?

The grip strengthening glove SEM™Glove (Soft Extra Muscle Glove) is the first product developed by Bioservo. The glove is put on and worn as any other glove together with a power unit that can be easily worn on the upper arm or on the back. The total weight of the SEM™Glove is 400 g. The ingenious technology of the SEM™Glove adjusts the added force to the grip intention of the user.

How does the SEM™Glove work? 

The fingertips in the SEM™Glove are equipped with force sensitive sensors that registers when the user grasps an object. A microcontroller calculates the desired added force and controls small engines that in turn regulates tendons connected to the fingertips of the glove. The tendons pulls the fingertips and an extra force is created. SEM™Glove is powered with two lithium-ion batteries and one charge gives 1-3 days of use depending on the use. 

How does it feel to use SEM™Glove?

As SEM™Glove adjusts to the user's intention it feels very natural to grip with the glove. You will experience a slight pressure over the fingers and also feel how the grip is getting more powerful. To experience the feeling you grip a cup of coffee and put the other hand over your fingers and press lightly. To wear the power unit can be a bit awkward in the beginning but soon you'll get used to it.
